After more than eight years at EuroAirport, Gian Carlo Alessi, member of the Executive Committee and Head of Freight, will leave the company at the end of May to take up a new position in the logistics sector. In this context, Gian will cease to perform his duties as Head of Freight with immediate effect. Until his departure, he will be available to the management for specific actions.

SWISS is to perform a series of flights bringing vital protective medical equipment from China to Switzerland. The operation, which is extensively supported by the company’s Swiss WorldCargo airfreight division, is being conducted on behalf of the Zurich Cantonal Pharmacy.

In view of the many adversities created by the Covid19 pandemic, the Swiss Federal Customs Administration (EZV) has undertaken various measures to ensure that freight traffic is handled as efficiently as possible.
The Interest Group Air Cargo Switzerland has joined forces with representatives from the aviation, business and tourism sectors, as well as the social partners, in a virtual summit called Back in the Air that formulated three key demands in order to restore freedom of travel. These were presented to the President of the Confederation Guy Parmelin on behalf of all the organisations concerned during his recent visit to Zurich airport.

The Air Cargo Tonnage Statistics of the three major Swiss airports for the year 2020 are now complete and available on igaircargo.ch website. The import and export figures are relatively stable. The transit traffic has dropped significantly during the past year due to the reduced number of passenger flights. For the same reason we notice an increase share of RFS (Trucks) traffic, feeding larger airports in Europe with scheduled freighter networks.
